MY JOURNEY INTO LIBERTY
There are so many messages around girls needing to look beautiful and there being an unsaid expectation or assessment on what is and isn't "beautiful". When I was younger I was oblivious to it and totally didn't care. Then at the end of school life got the better of me. Like many other girls, I fell into this trap of not fully embracing who I am made to be and never feeling "good enough" or "beautiful enough".
This turned into what seemed like a quarter life crisis and I hit rock bottom. I noticed it was due to losing all sense of who I was.
This collection was created from the question: "What is Beauty?". With a personal desire to find the truth of the matter, I created a 4m banner that I danced across, and then drew on, after my ankle breaking only a few days after I started. The process was life changing and really helped show me the fundamental truths about 'beauty'. It was based on my early understanding that I wanted to allow to sink in...
B.E.A.U = BE YOU
T.Y = THANK YOU.
So I challenged myself to break out the box and be myself unashamedly, while also thinking of all those people and things in my life that I am thankful for. As I say this "Journey into Liberty" was life changing.
